Hello, my name is Eli Yani and I am currently an undergraduate at UC Davis, looking to make a wiki for my hometown of Milpitas, California, which has had the seed page of milpitaswiki.org for quite some time, with no progress. If anyone could give me any advice on how to start building this wiki, that would be lovely. Thanks!

create a wiki and start collecting things, getting friends involved, and working on it! You can always get a domain name later on. —PhilipNeustrom
Philip pretty much answered it... unless you're trying to get that wiki going rather than starting over here on Wiki Spot. The userbase of Wiki Spot gives a boost to starting wikis, especially ones in Northern California. Regardless, expect to put in about 200 entries yourself to get the wiki seeded. It works well if you just focus on five a day... in under 60 days, you can have an entire basic wiki that will attract editors. I've found that grabbing a copy of the local newspaper is a surprisingly good way to get a random cross section of town, especially things you might forget (read all the ads, names in articles, etc). —JabberWokky
